Queen Street was named after Queen Charlotte (1761-1818), the wife of King George III. At the southern part of Queen Street has a predominantly Hindu character. The main place of interest here is the Arulmigu Sri Maha Mariamman Temple. At the Northern part, There was a Opium & Spirit Farm Offices were built here in 1906, and was occupied for many decades by Star Publications.

I like the spot of in front of Star publications as one of sketching point in Georgetown. One day, when I was sketching here, a young lady handed me a cup of water with the kindly words “Please take care under the hot weather”. She was a owners of restaurant at there. Her restaurant has a special and unique interior, and they are serving very good western dishes. I hope you’ll try it someday !
