The original Min Hokkien Ong ancestral temple was established in 1891 and was built by the sea in Jelutong, with an extension into the Kin Jiu Pah (banana grove, or banana jungle). The present clan temple, the Seh Ong Kongsi, is located on Penang Road. It was purchased in 1894, and today is located right in the heart of George Town facing Komtar.
I sketched this one standing at one of the entrance slope of KOMUTAR. Many people were passed on that narrow slope. I thought that was important when we sketch in busy cities, we must choose and looking for not only a spot to blocking the hot sunlight but also the place that do not interfere with the pedestrian.
