Magazine Road, or Jalan Magazine in Malay, is the first of originally seven parallel roads after the Prangin Canal. For that reason, it is known in Hokkien as Thau Tiau Lor, meaning "First Road", a short form of "Thau Tiau Lor Koay Kang'a" or "First Road after the Canal". It is the first road within the Seven Streets Precinct.
We can see several redevelopment construction site along this road. Those buildings have huge space so that is symbolized by KOMTAR. However an unoccupied rate is very high in new shopping malls and new condominiums in Penang. I think, it is important to keep a balance of increase in population, economic activities and to make comfortable city environment for any time and in any countries.
